How to solve this problem?
A government contractor bids on two separate contracts. The contractor has determined that there is a 30 percent probability of winning contract A and a 40 percent probability of winning contract B. Find the probability of:
Winning both contracts
Winning at least one contract
Winning exactly one contract
Losing both contracts
Solution
Probability of an event A i.e.
There are 2 contracts that can be won,
So 4 events can occur, those are
Government contractor
So probability of winning atleast one contract is sum of all ablove 3 possiblilities = 0.18 +0.28+ 0.12 =0.58 i.e. 58%
| P(A) = | The Number Of Ways Event A Can Occur |
| The total number Of Possible Outcomes |
