Calculate the ATP and NADH yields for each of these processes astir 3 residues of glucose obtained from glycogenolysis by phosphorylase, to pyruvate astir 3 molecules of glucose all the way to pyruvate astir 3 molecules of glucose all the way to lactate astir3 molecules of glucose undergoing PPP and the F6P and GAP formed eventually re-entering glycolysis all the way to pyruvate
Solution
For one molecule of glucose to pyruvate aerobically.
1 and 2) From glycogenolysis the glucose is obtained it ultimately converted to pyruvate only, in EMP pathway the 7 ATP molecules are formed (9-2=7), 2 NADH are yielded, here 3 glucose molecules so it obtains 21ATP, 6 NADH are produced.
3) In case of anaerobic pyruvate to lactate (4-2=2) 2 ATP are yielded, no NADH are involved per glucose molecule so, here 3 glucose molecules means , 6 ATPs, because the NADH formed at GAPDH is utilised for conversion of pyruvate to lactate.
4)for one glucose molecule 2 NADPH is involved, so for 3 molecules its is 6 NADPH are invovled, so 6 x 2.5 = 15 ATP are yielded by HMP shunt
