find the mistakes if any in the following a based on playfai

find the mistake(s) (if any) in the following:

a) based on playfair: the plain text: \"DATA MINING IS THE PROCESS OF ANALYZING DATA TO FIND PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TREND\" can be encrypted to \"EBQDOGOHMHHTSIKUTMDAXCTNLFLCOVYKMKXTQDYTGKOCMUAZOTQTOVSPHPMYOSUBOC\" by using some key.

Solution

Please follow the data and description :

a) PlayFair Cipher Algorithm :

I this process the cipher replaces each pair of letters in the plaintext with another pair of letters.

So the given text which is of any kind could be replaced with the series of letters based on the key that has been selected by the user. In the same way for the current scenario as we are unaware of the key we could not make it out the perfect results but while trying with a key as an \"CHARLES\" I could generate the cipher text as follows for the same input plain text :

Plaintext :

DATA MINING IS THE PROCESS OF ANALYZING DATA TO FIND PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TREND

Ciphertext:

BR QR NK GK GI PI PR SO CT EG BW EP BL KL RZ WN GI BR QR UP SN MF TH GC GP PF RZ ZU MG PV MU CD MF

So the results that were generated could also be correct if compared with the key given. So the given scenario is true and that it does not have any mistakes.

b) Hill Cipher Algortithm :

It is one of the symmetric key algorithms that have several advantages in the process of data encryption. But, it is to be noted that the inverse of the key matrix used for encrypting the plaintext does not always exist. Then if the key matrix is not invertible, then encrypted text cannot be decrypted. In the Involutory matrix generation process the key matrix used for the encryption is itself invertible. So, at the time of decryption we need not to find the inverse of the key matrix.

In the given scenario the matrix is not invertible so does the key matrix if used for the encryption of the message could not be recoverable as th edecryptionof the message is not possible. So the given scenario is true and that it does not have any mistakes.

Hope this is helpful.
