1. I have choosen NOKIA for this discussion. it is the best example how it started its journey in the early 1990s and how it reached the top position in selling of mobile handsets in the market and due to different reasons it has closed its majority of the production units and at last is acquired by Microsoft.
during the 2000s Nokia was the no.1 mobile seller in the mobile market. particularly in India it is having a good brand name and out of 100 mobiles 90 products belongs to Nokia only. but they failed to retain their position in the market and they lost their leader position to Samsung and now Nokia was strike off.
the demand for mobiles has been increasing for the last decade and every small producer also recording positive growth in the segment. but Nokia fials to catch the customer pulse and they quit from the market. they neglected the dual mode phones and touch and android phones initially and they lost market share. later they realized and started production of those units but it is too late.
they were not in a position to run and the management has taken a decision to sell it to Microsoft.
2. intel is the global leading player in chip manufacturing and is the biggest player in the chip market. and it is producing precessors, like intel core, core 2 duo, intel core M, i3,i5 and i7 are the successful models in the market. and it is having a huge product range in electonic systems and computers. its products range is tablets, ultra-note-books, desktops, laptops, mobiles, smartphones and chromebooks.
they are producing development tools, embedded software, datacenter software, cable modems, expansion modules and so on. it is offering its wide products to the customers in a succesful way. and majority of the customers prefers intel products than its competitors products. the reason is these people offers good qulity products to all segments at reasonable prices. and it is able to offer its produts at global wide with help of huge mediators and intermediaries.
based on the market expectations and demand they paln to produce products to the customers. they have a good sales team which can forecast demand in a correct way and based on it the production people scheduled the operations. and the distribution channel works in an effective way and send the finished products to the respective regions. the customers are located around the globe and they plans in an efficient way to cover the entire global market. each department works in an effective manner and that why Intel is retaining the leadership position in the concern market.
