Two circular loops of wire, each containing a single turn, have the same radius of 4.6 cm and a common center. The planes of the loops are perpendicular. Each carries a current of 1.3 A. What is the magnitude of the net magnetic field at the common center?
_________T

Solution

The magnetic field due to a current carrying loop is given by

B = ?I / 2r

B due to individual loop = 4.6 * 3.14 * 1.3 / 2*4.6*10-2

B = 4.318 *10 -2 T

As the loops are perpendicular ,their B are also perpendicular
So net B = sqrt ( B2 +B2 ) = 1.44 * B = aprox 0.0621 T
