a Explain why the function fx 2x tan x is one to one b Find
a. Explain why the function f(x) 2x tan x is one to one. b. Find (f (2m)
Solution
a. It is not one to one
In the interval -pi/2 to pi/2 tan x takes values from -infty to infty and hence given function f(x) also takes values -infty to infty in this interval and hence it is not one to one on the real line ie if x takes values from -infty to infty.
b.
Since it is not one to one inverse does not exist. First we need to give the interval in which we are checking if function is one to one.
