Wikipedia had devastating effect on the business of Brittanica. Brittanica, a few years ago was the main source of information to people at large, but now, people can have access to information from various sources and wikipedia is one of the main source of information for the public.

The main reason for decline of Brittanica was that the cost of getting information from Brittanica was quite a lot when compared to Wikipedia, which was free.
