Correlation is sometimes misreported as causation. Give an example of how business managers, promoters, advertisers, political leaders, etc. might try to suggest a cause-and-effect relationshipwhen a possible correlation exists. Using your example, is the cause-and-effect claim likely valid (why or why not)?
Solution
An example of correlation being mistaken as causation could be poverty causing obesity. Poverty could be correlated with obesity because there may be less accessiblility to healthy food options, but poverty does not directly cause obesity. This as a cause and effect claim is not valid because there are so many other variables that need to be taken into account that can cause obesity.
