Identify the hypotheses define Type I and Type II errors and
Identify the hypotheses, define Type I and Type II errors, and discuss the consequences of each error. In setting up the hypotheses, you will have to consider where to place the “burden of proof.”
It is the responsibility of the federal government to judge the safety and effectiveness of new drugs. There are two possible decisions: approve the drug or disapprove the drug.
Solution
first we need to define the null hypothesis
for this problem the null hypothesis is approve the drug
and the alternative will be disapporve the drug
Type I error is when we reject ho , but this actually is true
so in our case will be reject \"Approve the drug\", but the true is that we should approve the drug
the consequences of this error will be that the persons that would need the drug, wont have it because we reject the aprrove the drug , so we are telling that disapprove that drug
another consequences is that the people that need the drugs, we dont have the drugs this time,
Type II error, is when we accept the null Hypothesis , but this actually is false
In this context, we Approve the drug , but this actually is false, we should disapporve the drug
in this context the consequences will be that maybe the person that will have the drug, will die because is not safety
or can be not effective for the issues
