Find the resultant force magnitude and angle from adding F1

Find the resultant force (magnitude and angle) from adding F1 + F2 + F3 where F1 = 140 lb$ at 60 degrees F2 = 150 lb$ at 110 degrees F3 = 120 lb$ at 280 degrees

Solution

F1 140 lbs at 60deg

F2 150 lbs at 110 deg

F3 120 lbs at 280 deg

Fx = 140cos60 + 150cos110 + 120cos280 = 39.53 lbs

Fy = 140sin60 + 150sin110 + 120sin280 = 144.02lbs

Resultant F = sqrt(Fx^2 +Fy^2) = 149.34 lbs

Angle = tan^-1(Fy/Fx) = 74.65 deg
