When a physician listens to your lungs where is the stethosc
When a physician listens to your lungs, where is the stethoscope placed? Why? Using Figure 4, find the stomach in the anterior portion of the abdominal cavity. Find the point of entry of the esophagus into the stomach. Find the point at which the stomach joins the small intestine. Lift the stomach, and notice that it is bound to the other intestinal organs by a thin, translucent membrane called the mesentery. The mesentery contains the many blood vessels supplying the intestine. The intestine is highly vascularized because the nutrients resulting from the digestion of our meals must be absorbed into the circulatory system for transport to all tissues of the body.
Solution
1. The stomach is a thick-walled, J-shaped organ that lies on the left side of the abdominal cavity deep to the liver and diaphragm.
2. The oesophagus is a muscular tube which transports food from the pharynx to the stomach.
3. The small intestine consists of three parts. The first part, called the duodenum, connects to the stomach. The middle part is the jejunum. The third part, called the ileum, attaches to the colon.
