Which statement best explains why meiosis will be problematic in a triploid (3n) organism? See Section 13.1 The mitotic spindle will not form properly Chromosomes will not align properly in meiosis I Kinetochore microtubules will not attach to chromosomes Chromosomes will not align properly in meiosis ll.

Solution

The problem of meiosis in 3n organisms is that the chromosomes will not allign properly in meiosis I.

The first division of meiosis is the meiosis I where synapsis and crossing over occurs and homologous chromosomes are separated from each other, produsing daughter cells with half as many chromosomes (each composed of 2 sister chromatids) as the parent cell. So, in case of 3n organisms the chromosomes will not be able to divide properly in equal numbers.
