Solution
What does \"coke\" work for in the steel manufacturing process?
Coke is a solid carbon fuel, which has high carbon contents about 98% with few impurities about 2%. Usually, It is made from natural coal by removing moisture and other volatile matter from in it.
COKE = COAL - (MOISTURE + VOLATILE MATTER)
During steel manufacturing process, the coke is sealed and heated upto very high temperature of 1100 degree Celsius for 14 to 36 hours which provides necessary heat to iron ore. Coke provides required carbon contents to steel because it has high carbon contents. Also it will remove oxygen and other impurities from iron ore in blast furnace.
