Fill in the following master schedule with the Projected Ava

Fill in the following master schedule with the Projected Available and the Avail-able-to-Promise sections, then answer the questions: Demand Time Fence = 3 Planning Time Fence = 10 On-hand = 46 Is there anything on the master schedule that should be of great concern? Why, and what should you do? A customer wants eight of the units in period 4. What should you tell them and why? After you satisfy the customer who wants the eight in period 4, another customer wants 16 in period 5. What do you tell them and why? Suppose the forecast for period 12 increases from 30 up to 75 units because of a possible marketing campaign. What should you do and why? Sales informs you they want you to add a MPS of 50 in period 8 for a sales promotion. What should you tell them and why?

Solution

while preparing the master schedule,we should take care of many parameters.like forecasting time period ,no.of .orders, planning time period ,objects on hand, demand.

the major concern is about the demand.production should be done according to the demand.if the demand is high then production should increase.the demand should be forecasted carefully.forecasting plays a major role in success of the organisation .wrong forecasting leads to severe losses.

b) as the demand is less there is no problem of crisis.on hand availability is more than the demand

c)on hannd availabiliy is less .so there is a need to take care of production

d)master production scheudule should be remodified from that specific period or else production should be handled by preparing another MPS from that specific period

e)production should be done according to the lot size and on hand availability of previous period and current forecasting have to be done .if 50 is added then there is a change in the lot size and the successive readings will differ and need to fore cast again
