Prr are pattern recognition receptors, which play a very crucial part in immune system.

On the basis of ligand specificity, localisation , function and evolutionary relation ships , they can be classified into two

A) signalling prr. They include large family of cytoplasmic NOD like receptors, and membrane bound TOLL like receptors

B) endocytic prr . They engulf and destroy micro organisms, diaease causing antigens with the help of phagocytes without any relay of intra cellular signals.
