Initially water level in the inclined manometer is at 2 5 m
Initially water level in the inclined manometer is at 2, 5 m above reference and the pressure reading at the gauge is P_a=1000 Pa. At a time air pressure starts to increase, find the maximum pressure at the gauge (P_a) just before water spills from the top of the manometer tube. Density of air and water are 1, 225 kg/m^3 and 998 kg/m3 respectively. Density of air is assumed to be constant. Manometer tube has an inclination of 30 degrees.
Solution
Since crossection area of limb of manometer is much less than area of tank ,therefore there will negligible fall in level of water level in the tank
Thus Pa2 - Pa1 = density of water * g* ( h2 - h1)
Pa2= 1000 + 998*9.81*(3.5-2.5) =10790.38 Pa
Ans.- max guage pressure = 10790.38 Pa
