Jane is a 28 year old female with a resting pulse of 52. She would like to work out between 65-85% of her maximum heart rate. Determine her target heart rate range(upper and lower limits). Use the formula. (show calculations) List the four major causes of fatigue in the body. Compare and contrast carbohydrate and fat metabolism. How are they the same and how are they different? How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?(Be Creative)

Solution

Thanks for the question

37. Target heart rate= (maximum heart rate - resting heart rate) intensity + resting heart rate

MHR is as follows

220 - 28 Age = 193

193- RHR 52 =141

(65%) THR= (193-52) *65% + RHT 52

=(141) 0.65 + 52

= 144

(85%) THR= (193-52) * 85% +52

=(141)*0.85 + 52

= 172

38. The four major causes of fatigue in the body are

1. Anemia 2. hypothyroidism 3. Fibromyalgia 4. Myasthenia Gravis

39. a. carbohydrate are metabolised faster and provide energy more quickly than fats

b. Carbohydrates provide on metabolism less energy than fats.

c.carbohydrates provide 4 kilocalories per gram of energy while fats provide 9 kilocalories of energy

d. carbohydartes require half the quantity of oxygen than that required for fats.

similarities

x. both carbohydrates and fats are ultimately broken down to glucose

y. both are used by the body to store energy

z. both are rich sources of energy

w. both require oxygen for metabolism and breakdown
