What is the difference between the performance period and analysis period as per the 1993 AASHTO Design Guide? Can they be the same?

Analysis Period refers to the time for which economic analysis is conducted,

or The length of time choosen for consideration and study of incremental benefits and costs in an economic analysis.

Whereas Performance period is the period of time elapsed as initial or rehabilitated pavement structure deteriorates from its initial to terminal serviceability.

They cannot be same but

Analysis period can include provision for periodic surface renewal or rehabilitation strategies which will increase the overall service life of a pavement structure to 30 to 50 years before reconstruction is occured.
