Solution
The three best practices are the three core principles of Environmentally Preferable Purchasing(EPP).
1. Assessing the life cycle of the product
2. Does the product design include recycling concept?
3. what are the benefits of the product to human health, economy and the environment?
Assessing life cycle of the product includes a study- knowing details of the product from the initial stage of collecting raw materials, materials used in production to disposal of the product. For example, a raw material is extracted from earth to make the porduct. how many years will it take for the same raw material to be available in the same form in the earth after the disposal of the product?these sort of questions have to be taken into consideration while assessing the life cycle of a product.
Recycling is nothing but instead of disposing the deformed product to earth, using the waste created by the disposal as an input to another production process. For example, a paper is produced and used. a used paper is deformed and another paper can be produces from the disposed waste of used paper.
Benefits to health, environment and economy is doing an analysis, like how harmful is the product to environment and human health and hwo much revenue will be generated by the product? A point has to be noted here, money cannot buy health and environment by all means.
