Answer and explain ALL parts of the question

If a single cell contains 20 picogram (pg) DNA in G1 phase, how much DNA (pg) per cell would be in anaphase of mitosis, prophase I of meiosis, anaphase I of meiosis, telophase II of meiosis, respectively?

Solution

The Amount of DNA in various phases of the cell cycle:

Gap 1 (G1) phase (2N): 20pg

Synthetic Phase: Genomic content doubles hence became 40pg

Mitosis:-

Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase- DNA content: 40pg

Meiosis I:-

Prophase 1- DNA content: 40pg

Anaphase 1- DNA content: 40pg

The DNA content divided into half (2N) i.e., 20pg in telophase 1 and further half (N) in Telophase 2

Telophase 2- DNA content: 10pg

Answer and explain ALL parts of the question If a single cell contains 20 picogram (pg) DNA in G1 phase, how much DNA (pg) per cell would be in anaphase of mito
