Which statement is not correct The inverted hexagonal phase
Which statement is not correct? The inverted hexagonal phase in biological membranes occurs at elevated temperatures does not have a bilayer structure Is critical for cellular process loading membrane fusion has a lower membrane permeability than membranes in the liquid Crystalline Phase. Is similar to the gel phase in structure.

  Solution
Answer is Option B. Does not have a bilayer structure.
The biological membrane is bilayered with the polar head groups on the inside and the hydrophobic, hydrocarbon tails on the outside in solution. Hence it is called inverted hexagonal phase or Hexagonal ll Phase. Normally, the hydrocarbon tails would be inside and polar head groups would be outside the bilayer membrane.
