A photograph measures 6 inch by 11 inch Earl put in a frame

A photograph measures 6 inch by 11 inch. Earl put in a frame that added 2 inches to every side. find the outside perimeter and the total area of the photograph and frame. the outside perimeter of the photograph and the frame is how many inches?

Solution

6 in by 11 in

2 in to every side

So, now, the photograph is of dimensions
L = 6
W = 11

And after adding 2 on either side of each side:
L = 6+2+2 = 10
W = 11+2+2 = 15

So, outside perimeter is :
2(10 + 15)
2*25
50 inches

Area of the photograph is :
6*11 = 66 in^2

Area of the frame :
10*15 - 6*11
150 - 66
84 in^2

A photograph measures 6 inch by 11 inch. Earl put in a frame that added 2 inches to every side. find the outside perimeter and the total area of the photograph
