(1o) hydraulic radius of a 4 m (height) by 7 m (width) flood control channel full with runoff?

Solution

2) HYDROLOGY- It is water science in which we study about the occurence, distribution & movement of water on the Earth including that in atmosphere & below the surface of Earth.

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT - It deals with the study of Planning, design, construction and maintainance of storm water control facillities.

HYDRAULLICS - It deals with the study of liquid, in which we study about the mechanical properties of liquid that how they move and resist their motion, when pressure act on it. Fluid may be in rest or in motion. When deal deal with rest is called Hydrostatic and when deal with motion called Hydynamics.

3) Gross Precipitation - The total precipitation ie rainfall that occur on Earth surface called Gross precipitation

Net Precipitation - The amount of gross precipitation that turn in to runoff is called Net precipitation

Effective Precipitation - The amount of precipitation tht infilterate called Effetive precipitation.

4) In Rational method as in calculating peak flow we can calculate directly by just putting value in correct unit so it is time saving. but this ration method is applicable in particula situation ie (t>tc) we cannot use it as general method.

7) Followning factors affecting infiteration capacity-:

- Types of soil

- Void in soil

- Permeability of soil

- Initial moisture content of soil etc

8) Many eqns are there depend on given condition

generally we can use manning\'s eqn

V = (1/n)R2/3S1/2   Q = AV

9) Hydraullic Radius = Area / wetted perimeter

= 4 x 7 / (7+4+4)

= 1.86 m
