Solution
solution:
suppose the two sides of the park be a and b
as three sides of the park are covered with fencing
hence peremeter of 3 sides= 2a+b
length of fencing = 60 feet
hence 2a+b=60 i)
now
area of park=450
hence a*b=450 ii)
putting the value of b from i) into ii)
we get
a(60-2a)=450
or
a2-30a+225=0
hence a=15
putting this in ii)
b=30
hence shorter side =15 feet
longer side=30 feet
