2.11 The pressure gage on a boiler in Bostor reads 28.7 psi. What is the absolute pressure in psi? What would the absolute pressure be if the boiler were in Denver? S1.

Solution

Given:

Gauge pressure= 28.7psi

Gauge pressure always read gauge reading which is always less than absolute pressure,

Absolute pressure = Gauge pressure + atmospheric pressure

Since, atmospheric pressure = 1.01325 bar = 14.69 psi

Absolute pressure = 28.7 + 14.69

Absolute pressure = 43.3959 psi-----------------------------Ans
