PTC Creo Parametic 3.0: I am trying to remove this material, but it is just not going away. I drew up a sketch of .65 by 1. Then extruded the sketch to .5 inches in order to make a slit specifically using the \"remove material\" button in the extrude option. I am not sure why my model is not performing the slit action that I specified it to do.

Solution

I don\'t exactly understnd your question.

If the dimensions of the solid object is 0.65 by 1, then the current sketch you drew which is 0.35 by 1 on the initial solid body is supposed to over the whole width 1, which was not shown in the above sketch.

Most times material removal dosen\'t occur due to the selection of wrong sketch plane.

If you have drawn the first object using extrude on both sides, and try to remove from the same sketch plane; It will create a hollowness inside solid object which ofcourse is not your objective. You should be sketching on the outer surface of the plane.

If you have created a datum plane somewhere else and tart sketching from that plane, the material may not be removed if your extrusion lenght is smaller than the distance between datum planes.
