The concentrations of ADP ATP and 3PGA in E coli are 056 mM

The concentrations of ADP, ATP and 3-PGA in E. coli are 0.56 mM, 9.6 mM and 1.5 mM, respectively. It is not possible to measure the 1,3-BPG concentration directly, because it is too unstable. When the bacteria are growing at 25° C the actual free energy change for the PGK reaction is ~0. Use the information above to calculate the concentration of 1,3-BPG in E. coli cells. Enter your answer in mM.

Solution

According to the product formed we can say that it is a step in glycolysis whre 2 molecules of 1,3-BPG gets converted to 2 molecules of 3-PG..!!

As the substrate is fully converted to the product so the concentration of 1,3-BPG will be same as the 3-PG i.e 1.5mM..!!

But this is the concentration of 2 molecules hence the concentration of 1 molecules will be 0.75mM..

Hence the final concentration comes to 0.75mM..!!!

The concentrations of ADP, ATP and 3-PGA in E. coli are 0.56 mM, 9.6 mM and 1.5 mM, respectively. It is not possible to measure the 1,3-BPG concentration direct
