Glenohumeral joint: It is the major joint rotates in all direction of body axis (360 degrees) and it’s concave region compose of hyaline cartilage and associated with the acromioclavicular joint. On the other hand shoulder complex has sternoclavicular joint articulates (via reticular cartilage, coracohumeral ligament) with other parts such as sternum and clavicle. The glenohumoral joint is mainly a “first class lever” because in this kind of lever, humoral head of this joint is linked to the supraspinatus so that this first class lever is useful for abduction movement by “pulling top of the humoral head inward”. The structure of the glenohumeral joint is associated with synovial capsule that promote freely movable joints. The articular ends have the covering of hyaline cartilage and the bones are connected together by ligaments. There are cavities within the structure known as glenoid cavity, glenoid labrum around which joints are linked by glenohumeral ligaments. The joint is enclosed by fibrous capsule and the capsule is lined by synovial membrane and synovial fluid is present to avoid friction when joint movement.
