Solve this using substitution of elimintation!!

Solution

Two types of bulbs are available

Let no. of crocus bulbs be x

Let no. of tulip bulbes be y

She is asked to plant three times as many crocus bulbs as tulip bulbs

y = 3x ---> y-3x =0 (1)

Total 32 bulbs:

x+y = 32 (2)

Solve equation 1 and 2 :

y-3x =0

x+y = 32

------------- ( subtract)

-3x -x = -32

4x = 32

x= 8 nos of crocus bulbes

y = 3x = 24 nos of tulip bulbs
