What personal examples of excellent leaders who lead by example can you share? How were you affected and what similar traits do you see in your own leadership style?

It is said in management that leaders who lead by example are the best leaders. In other words these leaders walk the talk.

Employees or people following a leader looks upto the leader for guidance and vision. The leader has to inspire his followers. We often see leaders in field of sport as being leaders who lead by example.

I would like to discuss the case of MS Dhoni. He his the captain of Indian Cricket team. When the chips are down and the team is struggling in a game, he more often than not, in many situations has pulled the team out of the difficult situation.

An example of such a leader from the business or corporate life is Jack Welch, the former CEO of GE. He did and intoroduced many new and radical things in GE. For example he pushed the people to think out of the box, by himself thinking differently while implementing his strategy.

I am very strongly affected by this and i feel that a leader who leads by example is the best leader. He or she inspires the maximum faith and confidence in the followers. I also try and inculcate this trait and take maximum responsibility for the team. I try and do as much work as possible and do things that i preach.
