What accounts for the different rates of strength loss between men and women as they age?

Solution

Normally, nutrient deficiencies in both men and women cause strength loss during elderly age. In adult men and women, cardio vascular disease, diabetes, hypertension may cause strength loss. The decreased hormone production in both men and women may cause them to lose strength and become weak. In women, post menopause estrogen production is educed and this in turn affects calcium metabolism. Due to this, the bones may become porous leading to osteoporosis. The bones may become weak and brittle and therefore, post menopausal women are prone to fractures.

In men, diabetes, hypertension may affect the testosterone production and eventually may lead to prostate gland problems. This may cause weakness and also may lead to tumors in prostate or decreased urine production and may affect kidney function. Other muscular, neurological problems may occur due to elder age and eventually may cause weakness in both men and women.
