We have two strain gaged to use. A piezo element and a thin film resistive strain gage.

Objective A:

    Though both starin guage and piezo electric transducer devices are actuated by external force,but we prefer starin guages to measure the force exerted by butter fly wings.

Principle of operation of strain guage : when external force is exerted on a object,it experiences some change of shape,this change of shape or deformation is known as tensile or strain, this elongation is measured by strain gauage. The strain guage is confined with a wheatstone bridge circuit. when force exerted proportinate strain or tensile will experienced by the object which will make the wheatstone bridge circuit unbalanced.In the process of making bridge balanced we will measure the voltage which is proporionate to the exeretd force.
