A card is drawn from a deck. Find the probability it is a King or it is a diamond. (Hint: (A or B) P(A) P(B)-PA and B) )

Solution

[ I am providing the detailed process ]

let A be the event that a king is drawn.

B be the event that a diamond is drawn.

now out of 52 cards in a deck there are 4 kings.

so P[A]=4/52

and there are 13 diamonds in a deck

so P[B]=13/52

now there is only one king of diamond in a deck

so P[A and B]=1/52

so required probability

P[a king or a diamond]=P[A or B]=P[A]+P[B]-P[A and B]=4/52+13/52-1/52=16/52 [answer]

And If you wouldnt mind could you also please explain why you got the answer you got ? Thank you A card is drawn from a deck. Find the probability it is a King
