In a society , if a group of people are discriminated due to their colour, cast, relegion, or any other cultural charecteristics , by another dominated group is called a minority group in a society. There are different charecteristics of a minority group.
1. Lack of power- the most important charecteristics of a minority group- as the dominant groups exploit and oppress the minority group.
2. Un equal treatment- dominat groups denies to accomadate the minority population in a common event or refuse to treat them as equal.
3. Involuntry membership in the group or Ascribed statuses- a child is born to the particular group and they cannot change the group lateer and the discrimination of race, ethnicity, colour and all continues.
4. Sense of solidarity - this creates the in - group and out group consiousness between dominant and minority groups.
5. In group marriages- group members marriages occurs within the group to maintain their cultural distinctiveness.
6. Awareness of subordination- unequal distribution of power and privilage causes the subordination of minority group with the dominant group.
