Conduct a hypothesis test using either the pvalue approach o
Conduct a hypothesis test (using either the p-value approach or the critical value approach) to determine if the proportion of all business students at Rocky University who were not involved in some type of cheating is less than that of all business students elsewhere. Use = 0.05. Do not forget to include the correctly worded hypotheses.
* I found that 90% of Rocky University students did some form of cheating. Also found an article stating that 1/3 of students did some form of Cheating at other universities.
Solution
Given that p1 = 0.10 and p2 = 0.67
where p1 is the proportion of students not cheating at Rocky univ, and pw for others
n1 = 90 and n2 =90
Set up hypothesis as
H0: p1 > p2
Ha: p1<p2
Left tailed test
p1-p2 =0.57
95% confidence interval for difference =
0.4507 - 0.6893
Z value = 7.9
p<0.0001
As p < alpha, reject null hypothesis.
The proportion of all business students at Rocky University who were not involved in some type of cheating is less than that of all business students elsewhere is accepted as there is statistical evidence.
