At 440 Vrms a two-terminal load draws 3 kVA of apparent power at a lagging power factor of 0.9. Find Irms, P, Q and the load impedance.

Solution

voltage=440 volts

apparant power s=3000 V-A

power factor- cosq=0.9

3000=440*Irms

Irms=3000/440=6.818 amps

p=s*power factor=3000*0.9=2700 watts

Q=s*sin(q)=1307.66 VAR

load impedance=voltage/curent=440/6.818=64.535 ohms.
