The ratio of the length of an airplane wing to its width is ft to 1. If the length of a wing is 36.7 meters, how wide must it be? The airplane wing must be __ meters wide. (Round to the nearest hundredth.)

Solution

Let length of wing is l and width is w.

Given that the ratio of length and width is 8 to 1.

l / w = 8 _____(1)

Now, given that the length is 36.7 meters.

So, l = 36.7

36.7 / w = 8

w = 36.7 / 8

w = 4.5875 = 4.59

 The ratio of the length of an airplane wing to its width is ft to 1. If the length of a wing is 36.7 meters, how wide must it be? The airplane wing must be __
