If im testing to see if a sample of data follows a normal distribution, is there a difference from using a chi square goodness of fit test or an anderson darling test? My text book uses the chi square method but i know i can easily perform an anderson darling test on minitab and I want to make sure they give the same reult.

Solution

We can use p-p plot or Q-Q plot also to test for normality. Both chi suare test and Anderson test will give the same results. As mentioned you can use minitab to do the test.
