Steam enters a turbine superheated at 6 MPa and 680K and exits the turbine at 0.1 MPa with a quality of 0.89. The steam flowrate is 12 kg/s. Determine the power delivered by the turbine. Include a sketch of the control volume.

Solution

>> Inlet Condition

P1 = 6 MPa

T1 = 680 K

So, from Steam Table,

h1 = 3195.6580 KJ.Kg

>> Outlet Conditions

P2 = 0.1 MPa

x = Quality = 0.89

So, from SteamTable,

h2 = 2426.6232 KJ/Kg

>> m = Steam Flow rate = 12 Kg/s

So, Power Delivered by Turbine = m*(h1 - h2) = 12*(3195.6580 - 2426.6232) = 9228.418 KW.....ANSWER.....
