3.14 Dice The histograms contain data with a range of 1 to 6. Which group would have the larger standard deviation, group A or group B? Why?

Solution

Group B has larger standard deviation

Standard deviation measures spread of numbers from mean. If we look at figure A, numbers are nearly same, so they would have mean nearly same as the number itself. But by looking at picture B, It can be seen numbers are much more different when they compared from mean (you can take arbitrary). So, B has larger deviation of numbers from their mean and corresponding higher standard deviation.
