Determine the manometer reading, h, for the flow shown in Fig. P3.89.

Solution

>> As, dP = Pressure Difference is inversely proportional to D⁵ , keeping Flow Constant

Also, dP is measured by manometer height

So, h*D⁵ = constant

=> h1*D1⁵ = h2*D2⁵

As, Given that,

h1 = ?

D1 = 0.08 m

h2 = 0.33 m

D2 = 0.05 m

>> So, putting Values,

=> h1*0.08⁵ = 0.33*0.05⁵

=> h1 = 0.0315 m
