Winter is the correct answer. The phenomenon of lakes freezing is observed in temperate lakes. During winter, the surface of the lakes may be frozen or covered by ice bringing the temperature at the top of the lake to 0C (32F). The water is in liquid form due to the unique property of water but the temperature of the water does not show much variation.
