Can a person become typecast with respect to personality Why
Can a person become \"typecast\" with respect to personality? Why? How? What can a person do to change how he/she is categorized by others?
Solution
Yes, a person can become “typecast” in his/her lifetime if they live under the same social conditions or ethnic groups. Because, as everything is acquired, behaviour is also acquired and the traits are influenced by the genetic and environmental conditions. So, the response of a person under specific conditions towards a situation remain same, which becomes “typecasting.” Though each person plays different roles in their lives, the internal basis of behavioural response remain same under all conditions.
To change the categorization, one need to observe their behavioural response closely throughout the day. Minimising the impact of past impressions on the current behaviour can greatly help to diminish the “typecasting”.
