Cyber security CAs and Digital Certificates You accidentally

Cyber security: CAs and Digital Certificates.

You accidentally mistype a URL while browsing to your favorite CA’s website badca.com, and find a web form you can submit to get a digital certificate for ANY domain you wish. (It must have been an internal test page that should never have gone live.) Assume badca certificates are accepted by all major browsers. Suppose the only people who know about this web form are you and a large criminal organization. Will only badca’s current customers be affected by this problem, or is this problematic for other websites (e.g., sites with certificates from Verisign)? Explain.

Solution

Solution:

Not only badca\'s customers, but other websites will also be affected by this problem because this criminal organization can intentionally issue wrong digital certificates to the people for any domain they wish for. This will totally destroy the trusted transactions that takes place online whether it be online shopping or online banking and online business. Online frauds and identity thefts will increase a lot.

The secure communication and protection of information will also be affected adversely. Sending and receiving the e-mails will comes under the bad effect of this problem. The private data of the people will no longer remain private. Anyone can reach your personal data without your permission and knowledge.

Now, criminals can easily use your identity credentials and misuse it as they wish. They will now be able to change the transparency of every transaction on Internet and make them work as they want.
