Hazard: Any real or potential condition that can endanger a mission; cause personal injury, illness, or death; or damage equipment or property
Risk: is defined as a probability and severerity of accidents or loss from exposure to various hazards, including injury to peopple and loss of resources. It is a part of operational risk management which identifies operational hazards and takes reasonable measures to reduce risk to personnel, equipment and the mission.
System Safety: System safety standard practice is a key element of Systems Engineering (SE) that provides a standard, generic method for the identification, classification, and mitigation of hazards. This Standard is approved for use by all Military Departments and Defense Agencies within the Department of Defense (DoD). Integral to these efforts is the use of a system safety approach to identify hazards and manage the associated risks
