Now lets say that R3 R2 R1 in the circuit shown above Whic
Now let’s say that R3 = R2 > R1 in the circuit shown above
Which of these 3 resistors has the largest current through it? ____________
b. Which of these 3 resistors has the largest voltage drop across it? ___________
c. How do the currents through R1 & R2 compare? ______________________________________________________________
d. How do the voltage drops across R1 & R2 compare? ______________________________________________________________
e. If these were incandescent light bulbs, rank their brightness (from largest to smallest) ______________________________________________________________
Solution
a) R3 would have largest current since Current through R3 will be addition of current through R1 and R2.
b)it would be across R3 since R3=R2 and is greater than R1. So current is more in R3 and R3 is etiher equal or more. than r1 or r2
c)voltage Drop across R1 and R2 would be same. Since R2 > R1. so current through R1 would be more than current through R2.
d) it would be same.
e)Since P=IV it would be greater in R3 followed by R1 and then R2
