Suppose that A and B are two independent events for which PA

Suppose that A and B are two independent events for which P(A)=0.33 and P(B)=0.84. Find each of the following:

A. P(A|B)=

B. P(B|A)=

C. P(AandB)=

D. P(AorB)=

Solution

P(A)=0.33 and P(B)=0.84
A,B are independent events, P(A n B)= P(A)*P(B) = 0.33*0.84 = 0.2772

1)
P(A|B)= P(A n B)/P(B) = 0.2772/0.84 = 0.33

2)
P(B|A) = P (A n B)/P(A) = 0.2772/0.33 = 0.84

3)
P(A)*P(B) = 0.33*0.84 = 0.2772

4)
P(AorB) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A n B) = 0.33 + 0.84 - 0.2772 = 0.8928

Suppose that A and B are two independent events for which P(A)=0.33 and P(B)=0.84. Find each of the following: A. P(A|B)= B. P(B|A)= C. P(AandB)= D. P(AorB)=Sol
