Write an equation a in slopeintercept form and b in standard
Write an equation (a) in slope-intercept form and (b) in standard form for the line passing through (1,9) and perpendicular to 2x + 7y = 1. The equation of the line in slope-intercept form is (Type your answer in slope-intercept form. Use integers or fractions for any numbers in the equation.) The equation of the line in standard form is (Type your answer in standard form.)
Solution
line pases through ( 1, 9)
and perpendicular to 2x +7y =1
rewriting the above eqution in slope intercept form: y = -2x/7 + 1/7
slope = -2/7
so, slope line perpend. to aabove line would be m = 7/2
slope intercept form of equation : y = mx +c
y = 7x/2 +c
find c: 9 = 7/2 +c---> c = 9-7/2 = 11/2
y = 7x/2 +11/2
Slope Intercept form : y = 7x/2 +11/2
Standard form of equation : 2y = 7x +11
