A shortage of basophils is known as Basopenia.In this case, the body will not be able to cope up with hypersentitive reactions,blood clotting during injury and recovery of injured site will be delayed.This is because basophils mainly function with inflammatory reactions and in case of acute and chronic allergic diseases.They take part in phagocytosis,produce histamine and serotonin so as to carry our inflammation and produce heparin as well to prevent blood clotting.This often leads to urticaria in which there occurs reddish skin rashes with bumps.
