Why is it an advantage for trees in the artic to only have tracheids and not vessels?

Solution

Vascular plants possess tracheids & these are elongated cell situated within in xylem to transport minerals & water along with other tissues such as “phloem vessels”. Therefore, these are referred as tracheophytes. These tracheids are more beneficial in arctic plants, & these plants have only tracheids but not vessels because cells in tracheids of arctic plants possess thick cell wall enable tapering at the ends finally provide these plants to reach efficient heights to get sunlight. These events are followed by plant growth to taller heights to enable dispersal of seeds & spores to expand their range in arctic zone. Therefore, tracheids have no opening as vessel elements & their cells in tracheids together to form pat pairs to allow water to utmost height sin these plants.
